- BACKGROUND: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) occupies a 144,000 square foot office building located at 6432 General Green Way, Alexandria, Virginia 22312. The SEC plans to award a space alteration contract within the next 45 days and is currently seeking capabilities statements from contractors with experience in office build-outs. The space alteration contract will have a potential dollar value of $2 million over the next 12 to 24 months. The SEC is looking for contractors to provide all labor, tools, materials, and equipment for renovation of building spaces. Work includes but not limited to: demolition of existing walls, flooring & ceilings, plumbing, providing a reconfigured layout which includes office spaces, multi-purpose/training room, conference room, secure area, painting, door hardware, passage and modular space. Bid, payment and performance bonds are required. The applicable North American Industry Class System (NAICS) for this service is 236220. At a minimum the contractor shall provide the following information: 1. Ability to obtain license to do business in Fairfax County, Virginia 2. Evidence of bonding capability to the maximum amount of this project. 3. A minimum of 5 years experience in providing space alterations and office build-out. PAST PERFORMANCE: Interested contractors shall provide the following information: 1. Three (3) references for work/projects similar in size and scope to this requirement. Include the contract number, point of contact with phone number, dollar amount, and a brief description of the work performed. 2. A demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors including mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, paint, acoustic ceiling, sprinkler systems, carpet, millwork supply, hardware supply, and other suppliers and trades normally associated with space alterations. Statements should be concise and only address the information requested. Responses are limited to 10 pages. The solicitation package will be available on or about February 28, 2007. Offerors wanting to receive the solicitation shall make their request in writing via e-mail to Jacqueline W. Johnson at johnsonja@sec.gov , by February 26, 2007.
