Description
UPDATE: The Navstar Global Systems Positioning Wing intends to release Request for Proposal number FA8807-07-R-0001 for the Next Generation GPS Control Segment (OCX) by 23 February 2007. Keep checking Fedbizopps.gov for the latest news or register to receive a 24 hr auto-update email for changes to this notice. The Navstar GPS is a satellite-based radio navigation system that serves military and civil users worldwide. GPS users process satellite signals to determine accurate position, velocity, and time. GPS is an Acquisition Category 1D program. GPS must comply with 10 United State Code (USC) 2281, which requires that the Secretary of Defense ensures the continued sustainment and operation of GPS for military and civilian purposes; and 42 USC 14712, which requires that GPS comply with certain standards and facilitates international cooperation. This acquisition executes those statutory mandates. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 541710 and the size standard used is 1,000 employees. OCX will provide command, control, and mission support for the GPS Block II and III satellites as well as support to existing and new interfaces. OCX, in conjunction with the modernization of the GPS Block II and the introduction of GPS Block III assures reliable and secure delivery of enhanced position and timing signals to serve the evolving needs of GPS military and civil users.
