Description
The solicitation will be restricted to Kaydon Corporation, 2860 McCracken St, Muskegon, MI 49441-3495,(231) 755-3741 for the Traverse Bearing Assembly as the only qualified source for service/repair under FAR 6.302-1(A)(2)(ii)(B). See Government-Wide Numbered Note 22. All responsible sources or vendors interested in submitting a proposal for consideration by the agency must first becoming qualified as a source for this item and would have to as a minimum, and at the vendors cost, produce, remanufact ure, or rebuild 3-5 traverse bearing assemblies and successfully pass initial First Article inspection prior to being considered for testing in accordance with the Government qualification procedures and associated final performance testing procedures util izing an actual Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV). The total estimated testing costs that would have to be borne by the vendor is $1.7M and the Government testing and qualifying time is estimated at 17 months. There is no guarantee an offerors items will p ass the testing, nor is there guarantee that an offeror who has become qualified to compete on future actions will be awarded a future Government contract. The item to procure is a traverse wire bearing that attaches the turret to the chassis for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems (BFVS) and allows the turret to rotate 360 degree s. This bearing consists of a bearing drive gear, inner race, outer race, rolling elements, grease and seals. The inner and outer diameters of this bearing are approximately 60 inches and 67 inches respectively. The height of this bearing is approximate ly 3 inches. The drive gear is made of 7000 series aluminum alloy and has 480 precision cut teeth. The inner and outer bearing races consist of corrosion resistant steel (CRES) and the roller elements are hardened CRES. The grease is molybdenum disulfid e per MIL-G-21164 and the seals are made of rubber per ASTM D2000. Proposals received from responsible sources will be considered. It is anticipated that award will be a 4-year firm fixed price contract for service/repair and limited new production. Max imum monthly demands for service/repair are estimated as follows: Fiscal Year (FY)07-100 each; FY08-200 each; FY09-100 each; and FY10-100 each. Maximum monthly demands for estimated incidental new production are as follows: FY07-25 each; FY08-25 each; FY0 9-25 each; and FY10-25 each. FOB is Destination. The end item application for this Traverse Bearing Assembly is the Bradley Fighting Vehicle System. Estimated issue date is MARCH 15, 2007.
