Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory, intends to negotiate a sole source modification on an existing contract with the Linguistic Data Consortium (LDC), University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, under the authority of FAR 6.303-1 (41USC 253(c)(1)) to provide the "Expansion of enhanced research lexicon for Speech-to-Speech Machine Translation of Iraqi Arabic Speech." Since the original award it was determined that additional data for research was required to complete the scope of the contract. Sole source determination is based on the fact that the original contract was posted in FedBizOps on 3/1/06 and subsequently awarded on a sole source basis since only LDC was deemed capable of satisfying the requirement. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. Inquires will only be accepted via email to andra.shaffner@nist.gov. All information received by 12:00 p.m., EST, 3/12/07 will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed acquisition will be based on responses to this notice; such determination is solely within the discretion of the Government. No telephone requests will be honored.
