- Description
- The US Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command, (JM&L LCMC), Picatinny, NJ is conducting a worldwide market survey for a 105mm IMHE Projectile with equal or greater range, improved IM properties and greater lethality than the current US 105mm artillery projectiles. This projectile has to have demonstrated sufficient USG safety testing, to assure that this round is safe to handle, store, test and transport at all extreme temperatures. The projectile must have demonstrated interoperability and be compatible with the US 105mm M119A2 Weapon System, with the M67 and M200 Prop Charges and with the M782 and the M767A1 Fuzes. The threshold max range is greater than 11.5 km with an objective of 17.5 km. The threshold min range is 2.5km with an objective of 1.5km. The threshold lethality shall be greater than the M913 105mm HE projectile against select targets. For low angle (less than 800 mils) the threshold range probable error shall not exceed .35% of range and the threshold precision deflection probable error shall not exceed 1 mil. For high angle (greater than 800 mils), the threshold range probable error shall be less than .35% of range and the threshold precision deflection probable error shall not exceed 2 mil. The projectile shall demonstrate improved IM properties as compared to the 105mm, M913 HE Cartridge. The contractor shall have production facilities available to produce quantities for testing, training and fielding. For the base contract, the following projectiles are required to be delivered to the USG: 1. 193ea 105mm Inert Projectiles, 6ea 105mm Inert (90 degree cut-away replicas), 300 ea 105mm inert projectiles and 700ea 105mm, IMHE Projectiles by May 08. 2. 1000ea 105mm, IMHE Projectiles by Aug 08. 3. 2000ea 105mm, IMHE Projectiles by Oct 08. For follow-on production, it is anticipated there will be four options. Each option would consist of approximately 10K projectiles. All respondents must be able to demonstrate past performance as well as the capability to provide system engineering, integration, and full- scale production. Use of specialty metals, either as end products or components, shall be disclosed in accordance with DFARS 225.7002-1. Interested sources should submit their qualification data, technical capabilities and past performance no later than 19 March 2007 to the Combat Ammunition Systems Contracting Center, JM&L LCMC, ATTN: Magda Szymanski, AMSML-AQ-CA, Bldg 9, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, email: mszyman@pica.army.mil. Interested sources should provide the contractor's name, address, point of contact with telephone number, email address, and size of business. All submissions must be in electronic format. The point of contact for technical questions is Gene Schlenk, gene.schlenk@pica.army.mil.
