- Contractor shall provide all tools, labor, materials, and supervision to perform all work required for Project 521-325 "Specialty Care Expansion" at the VA Medical Center, 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham, Alabama 35233 in accordance will plans and specifications. Work will involve building a new 4 story, 20,000 square foot building in an existing court yard outside of the main hospital and connecting it to the hospital at several locations. The work will include but not limited to general construction, demolition, alterations, walks, grading, drainage, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, utility systems, etc. The estimated dollar value of construction is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Estimated solicitation issue date is on or about March 29, 2007, with an estimated bid opening date of May 2, 2007. The National American Industry Classification system (NAICS) Code is 236220 for this procurement. This procurement is subject to the availability of funds, and is for full and open competition. There will be one (1) pre-bid walk through of the project, and it is highly recommended that any contractor wishing to bid on this project should attend one of the walk through. The pre-bid walk through time and location will be addressed in the cover page of the solicitation. All solicitation packages will be available for downloading from the website www.fedbizopps.gov/ listed in this announcement. NO HARD COPIES OF THE SOLICITATION WILL BE PROVIDED. However, hard copies of the drawings will be issued on a first come first serve basis only to prime contractors; no drawings will be issued to sub-contractors. Only twenty-five (25) sets of drawings will be issued. All requests for drawings and/or questions regarding this solicitation must be submitted in writing to Paul Weathersby (10N7/NLO), VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 or by e-mail to Paul.Weathersby2@va.gov please submit your request no later than March 27, 2007. It is highly recommended that you complete the solicitation mailing list on the website before downloading the solicitation. Any amendments issued to this solicitation will be available ONLY at the website. Bidders are reminded that they are responsible for obtaining all amendments from the website.
