- Description
- The USDA-ARS. SJVASC, Parlier, CA has a requirement for field labor services. The services will all be in one location working on numerous varieties of stone fruits, grapes, row crops, i.e. wheat, brassica, limanthes, Lesquerella, proboscedia, zinnias, safflower, and cucurbits, perennial crops, i.e. parthenium, kochia, jojoba, opuntia, and helianthus. The stone fruit varieties will consist of peaches, plums, and nectarines. Approximate acreage for stone fruit is 5 acres all intermixed. Labor will consist of thinning, pruning, and harvesting of fruit. Other work may include fertilizing and weeding of fields. Grape acreage is approximately 23 acres and work will consist of pruning, tying, vine trellis installation, seedling planting, rooting, irrigation hose installation, weeding, emasculation and pollinating, seedling vine training, shoot and cane positioning, harvest, processing. There will be miscellaneous work through out the year also. Most work will be related to tending of vineyards and orchards. All work will be done under the supervision of a USDA-ARS farm manager. Evidence of insurance should be included with your quotes. Federal minimum wage rates apply. National safety compliance posters will be posted when ever laborers are working. Tools and implements will be provided for laborers. Three blanket purchase agreements will be set up to allow for maximum flexibility to our scientist and to ensure needed resources are available.
