Description
U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick, MA, on behalf of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) has a requirement for a field evaluation for a conceptual water carrying system. Four Hundred Twenty-Five (425) 25liter water carrying system for squa d level resupply to determine its operational effectiveness and advantages over the current economical 5 gallon water can . The Government anticipates awarding one (1) Firm-Fixed Price Order to Camelback Products, L.L.C., a small business located in Petalu ma, CA. Product information is as follows: Camelbak Squadbak (#90619), Color- coyote. This order is being awarded to conduct a field user evaluation with 4 units (MWTC, Camp Lejeune unit TBD, Camp Pendleton unit TBD, and FSSG unit TBD) representing th ree different operational missions to determine its operational effectiveness during the spring/summer 2007. If the conceptual water carrying system is recommended for USMC use, salient characteristics will be prepared for competitive procurement. To meet this requirement, the Government requires a design that makes it easier for a Marine to the carry a 50lb. load by foot over a transport distance of 1 mile, allows 3 refill stations that best accommodate water resupply needs while minimizing water l oss; 4 inch opening, 1 inch hose connection and 2 ports to refill hydration bladders, and presents significantly smaller water volume when empty during transport. Delivery shall be FOB destination (contractor) Petaluma, CA and inspection and acceptance sha ll be at destination (to be determined) by the contractor. The North American Industry Classification System Identifier for this procurement is 339999; the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees.
