Description
NOAA?s Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) conducts research on processes that relate to air quality and climate, concentrating on the transport, dispersion, transformation, and removal of trace gases and aerosols, their climatic and ecological influences, and exchange between the atmosphere and biological and non-biological surfaces. To further this mission ARL has partnered with the State of Mississippi through a monitoring site located within the boundaries of the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR), in Moss Point, MS. ARL HQ seeks to contract for a skilled individual to perform the daily operations and data collection and dissemination activities associated with maintaining this site. The individual shall ensure the provision of long-term, continuous measurements of atmospheric trace gases and aerosols, with an emphasis on trace mercury species in the atmosphere. Measurements will include, but not be limited to, gas phase measurements of elemental mercury (Hg0), reactive gaseous mercury (RGM), and fine particulate mercury (FPM), as well as of mercury species deposited in precipitation at the site. Ancillary physical and chemical measurements, to aid in air mass identification and chemical correlative studies, will include carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NO, NOY), ozone (O3), and meteorological parameters (Temperature, pressure, dew point, wind speed, wind direction, precipitation rate and volume). Additional measurements may be added periodically, This order shall have a six-month performance period and all potential contractors must have explicit authority of the State of Mississippi to utilize their instrument suite located at the NERR. This order has a budget estimate of less than $25,000. Electronic quotes are preferred and are to be submitted to don.thompson@noaa.gov.
