- Description
- Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate (AFRL/IFGD ) solicits research proposals which shall consist of the design of a complete (both ground and airborne terminals), high capacity, Radio Frequency (RF) data link. With advances in sensor technology, the need for increased throughput over platform data links has grown. This effort shall examine cutting edge technologies to provide maximum capacity to platforms carrying these sensors. In particular, this effort supports persistent dominant surveillance concepts. With this mission in mind, the data link system shall provide an all weather capability, as well as variable bit rates to support low resolution sensors/basic video applications to full download of ?raw?, unprocessed In-phase and Quadrature (I&Q) sensor data. System concepts for this application are currently immature. Therefore, this effort shall also include an examination and analysis of system concepts to further define the use of the system in this mission. The contracted effort shall include all phases of the design. During preliminary design the contractor shall perform trade studies, modeling and simulation, system concepts analysis, and requirements definition leading to a Preliminary Design Review (PDR). Following the PDR, the contractor shall advance the design with further modeling and simulation, breadboarding/brassboarding of system components, laboratory test of technologies and subsystems, and refinement of the design resulting in a Critical Design Review (CDR). Upon successful completion of CDR, the effort shall include hardware construction of both air and ground terminals, system integration and test, and ground demonstration of the system. The effort shall conclude with a flight test, demonstrating the functionality of the system in an operationally representative environment. Interested offerors may view and/or download the full BAA solicitation by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) homepage at http://www.fbo.gov/. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement.
