The case shall be capable of protecting the tools throughout the life of the tool set and shall be designed to store the components in an orderly manner. The components shall be secured in such a manner that they will not be damaged, will not freely move around, and will not damage the case (e.g., dings/dents) during shipment and handling. The case shall have at least one shutter hook, snap-type latch, or similar hardware to secure the case in a closed position. The case shall be fitted with at least two hinges or a continuous hinge. The plastic case shall be constructed of a double layer, impact resistant material. The metal case shall be corrosion resistant or have a corrosion resistant coating (e.g., plating, paint) on interior and exterior surfaces. Metal hardware (e.g., hinges, hinge pins, latches, screws) on cases shall be corrosion resistant or have a corrosion resistant plating. Paint shall not be the primary corrosion resistant coating on metal hardware. WRENCHING OPENING REQUIREMENTS: The wrench opening shall conform to ASME B107.17m-1991 except as follows: Paragraph "5 USE", delete and substitute the following: "5 USE The applicable "GO" and "NO GO" gage, as specified herein, shall be aligned, centered, and employed in the wrench openings. The "GO" gage shall be employed in the wrench openings prior to employment of the "NO GO" gage. Wrench openings being inspected using "GO" and "NO GO" gages shall not be deburred with either gage. Wrench openings shall not have rips, tears, broaching, or materials (e.g., slugs, silvers, webs, burrs) which would interfere with the gaging accuracy. Eight point wrenching styles shall be inspected using both alternate sets of four points for each specified inspection. Twelve point wrenching styles shall be inspected using both alternate sets of six points for each specified inspection. For sockets and nut drivers, the wrench opening shall accept the "GO" gage to the wrenching depth specified for the wrench opening and shall not accept the "NO GO" gage to a wrenching depth (excluding chamfer) greater than 0.010 of an inch. For box wrenches, torque adapters, and open end crowfeet, the wrench opening shall accept the "GO" gage such that the "GO" gage passes completely through both sides of the wrench and shall not accept the "NO GO" gage to a wrenching depth (excluding chamfer) greater than 0.010 of an inch. For open end wrenches and open end crowfeet, the gages shall be employed in the wrench opening at the front end of the wrench as distinct from the wrench opening at the top and bottom of the wrench. The gages shall be employed using the side of the gage as distinct from the end of the gage. The wrench opening shall accept the "GO" gage such that at least four flats of the "GO" gage do not extend beyond the tips of the wrench. The wrench opening shall not accept the "NO GO" gage to a wrenching depth (excluding chamfer) greater than as follows: NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: Less than 19 mm and Less than 3/4 inch - "NO GO" GAGE 0.063 inch NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: 19 mm through less than 44 mm and 3/4 through less than 1-3/4 inches - "NO GO" GAGE 0.125 inch NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: 44 mm or larger and 1-3/4 inches or larger - "NO GO" GAGE 0.250 inch Reasonable hand force shall be used in the employment of gages. If the gaging results are challenged/disputed based on interpretation of what constitutes reasonable hand force, the issue shall be resolved by employment of the "GO" and "NO GO" gages using the following requirements: The force in pounds (including, when applicable, the weight of the gage and/or the wrench being inspected) in the direction of the wrench opening in the employment of gages shall be as follows: NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: Less than 12 mm and Less than 1/2 inch - "GO" GAGE 0 to 4.0 and "NO GO" GAGE 3.5 to 4.0 NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: 12 mm through less than 19 mm and 1/2 through less than 3/4 inch - "GO" GAGE 0 to 9.0 and "NO GO" 8.5 to 9.0 NOMINAL WRENCH OPENING SIZES: 19 mm or larger and 3/4 inch or larger - "GO" GAGE 0 to 14.0 and "NO GO" GAGE 13.5 to 14.0 To ensure product acceptance, manufacturers may use gages with tighter dimensional tolerances than those shown herein." Pallet lumber used shall be bark free. Pallet Load Size: The load plus the pallet shall have a maximum height of 53 inches and shall not exceed 2500 pounds in weight. Pallet Load Configuration: The containers or items shall be placed in a suitable pattern to form a stable and balanced load. Palletized loads shall be secured to the pallet to insure that the load arrives intact. Stacking Strength: The pallet plus the load shall be capable of supporting three additional like loads without any product damage and without the load or the pallet collapsing. Vertical, horizontal, or filler reinforcement may be added as necessary to provide strength.
