Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure on an other than full and open competition basis the following items: To pursue studies of the triazole cure mechanism and kinetics, development of synthetic techniques for facile quantitative addition or substitution of azido and acetylenic end groups onto large molecules, the preparation of improved polyazido- and polyacetylene compounds for utilization in the triazole cure, improvements in the analysis of the extent of derivatization to the new functionalities in these compounds, studies of the cure preferences and mechanical property problems noted in some triazole-cured polymer materials, and studies on the tensile properties of filled composites using these cured polymers. The period of performance will be from date of award through 31 December 2007. This requirement is sole sourced to University of Florida, 219 Grinter Hall, Gainesville, FL 32611, based on the fact that Dr. Kat rinzky's group is the only known source working in the specific research aspects of triazole formation reactions to polymer cures and their interaction with filer materials in composites at the present time. Any firms believing that they can provide the studies at this time, may submit a written response to be received at the Contracting Office no later than 5 days after the date of publication of this notice. It must clearly show the firm's ability to be responsive without compromising the quality, accuracy or reliability of the service without causing programmatic hardship. Respond to Kris McVay, by mail to NAWCWPNS, Code 220000D, 429 E. Bowen Rd - Stop 4015, China Lake, CA 93555-6108, or fax to (760) 939-8329, or email to kirsten.mcvay@navy.mil.
