The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head, MD intends to award a Sole Source contract to Sensor Technology Engineering (STE) for the purchase of Linear Radiation Monitors (LRMs) and Handheld Radiation Monitors (HRMs). The LRM is a unique item containing gamma and neutron radiation detectors that allows the operators to search for radioactive materials over large areas, around vehicles and containers and in wells and tunnels. The HRM is a smaller version of the LRM with a single gamma and single neutron radiation detector that can be worn on a person or strapped onto a weapon or other piece of equipment. STE is the sole manufacturer and sole owner of the proprietary information and trade secrets including hardware configurations and software within the LRM and HRM. No similar products exists for the LRM and there is no other source for LRMs and HRMs. It is anticipated that the award will be firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) type contract for 5 years starting year 2007. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is 334519.
