- YWCA of Greater Los Angeles which operates the Los Angeles Job Corps Center (LAJCC) under contract with the U.S. Department of Labor is requesting bids for the upgrade of the existing fire alarm system in building 4 (1031 South Hill Street). The building has 5 levels and consists of vocational classrooms and administrative offices. The work shall include furnishing and installing an upgrade for the building fire detection and alarm system to conform to all applicable state and local codes, ordinances, and regulations including the national building code commonly used for Los Angeles City area, the National Fire Protection Association (NEPA) Sections 72 and 90A, American with Disabilities Act Code of Federal Regulations (ADA), National Electrical Code (NEC), National Eletrical Contractor's Association (NECA), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and Underwriter Laboratories, Inc. (UL). The contractor shall be licensed in the State of California and in good standing with the Contractor's State License Board, and shall have no less than five consecutive years relevant experience. A pre-bid conference will be held on April 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center, 1031 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, California 90015, interested parties will walk through the site and familiarize themselves with the surroundings. Participation by small business, veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business and women-owned small business are encouraged to bid (must show certificate of certification issued by the Small Business Administration). All bids are due not later than May 11, 2007 by 4:00 p.m. to Telly Polanco. The YWCA/Los Angeles Job Corps Center reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to waive any or all formalities in a bid.
