Description

The Vicksburg Consolidated Contracts Office, Alexandria Office, intends to negotiate a new sole source contract with Jobin Yvon, Inc. to manufacture an Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence Microscope. The statutory authority for this requirement is c ontained in 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR Part 6.302-1(a)(2). Based on an extensive market research conducted with knowledgeable individuals in the Government and related industry, only one responsible source was found to be capable of manufacturing an Ener gy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence Microscope. Jobin Yvon, Inc. was the only manufacturer found that could meet the governments requirements in Fluorescence Microscopes. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by th e Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competit ive procurement.
