Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Ammunition, requests information on the availability of sources of supply for Cartridge, 40mm White Star Parachute (DODIC B535). The Cartridge, 40MM White Star Parachute is a fixed round of ammunition consisting of a projectile assembly and a cartridge case assembly. The projectile assembly contains a pyrotechnic illuminant assembly attached to a 20-inch diameter parachute. This cartridge must be capable of being fired from the M203 Grenade Launcher and is used for illumination and signaling. When fired vertically, the candle must function at approximately 152-213 meters (500-700 feet) in altitude. It must be visible to an air observer that is up to 4.8 kilometers (3 miles) away flying at an altitude of 914 meters (3000 feet). The Cartridge must meet all of the requirements of MIL-DTL-0063092B. This is a request for information only to identify possible sources within industry and responses will not be consid ered offers. There is currently no contractual requirement for these items. This request for information does not commit the Government to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of any submission to this announcement, or to contract for any supplies. To be considered as a viable source of supply, interested parties must demonstrate technical expertise and facilities to provide a commercial off-the-shelf, non-developmental Cartridge and must have an existing production line. Information from third party distributors is not requested and will not be considered by the Government. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 332993, Ammunition (Except Small Arms) Manufacturing. All contractors who provide goods/services to the DoD must be registered in the Central Contractor Register (CCR). Any forthcoming solicitation will require online certifications and representations (ORCA), http://orca.bpn.gov. Failure to comply with ORCA registration may make th e offeror ineligible for award. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to meet the requirements by submitting (electronically or by mail), a white paper, technical data for the item, brochures or other literature, past performance information, as well as cost and availability data for the Cartridges to the Contracting Officer at carl.bradshaw@usmc.mil, no later than 24 April 2007.
