- Mechanical / Electrical Upgrade at the Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at Lincoln Municipal Airport, Lincoln, Nebraska This project replaces an existing boiler to a larger size that serves as a redundant backup for the current boiler in the base building. This mechanical work creates a hot water loop between the two boilers to supply into and return from. The boilers will be added onto the existing Trane Direct Digital Control System. The contractor shall provide detailed plan and elevation views of mechanical rooms with air handling units, ductwork, piping and miscellaneous equipment on shop drawings. Demolition: ?? Remove and dispose of tower hot water boiler, boiler controls, and boiler accessories. ?? Remove and dispose of tower hot water boiler exhaust piping and stack. ?? Remove and dispose of tower boiler hot water pumps P-1, P-2, and P-3. ?? Remove existing controls to tower hot water boiler. ?? Remove and dispose of existing strainers, air separator, vents, gages, sensors, shutoff valves, etc on the tower hot water boiler. ?? Prove operation of the new tower boiler required before the start of base building demolition. Remove and dispose of base building boiler piping serving the boiler as described and shown on the contract drawings. ?? Remove and dispose of base building boiler exhaust piping up through the roof. ?? Remove existing controls to base building hot water boiler. Construction: ?? Provide and install a new boiler and new boiler controls with hot water reset controls in the first floor tower mechanical room. Replace air separators, strainers, vents, gages, sensors, shutoff valves, etc. Install unit, a dedicated boiler pump and hot water bypass piping with a thermic control bypass valve in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and as indicated on the drawings. The unit is to be fitted with required control devices to properly operate the unit. Install unit to be controlled with existing Trane controller and a revised operator display/interface workstation. Revise the Trane controls on the base building boiler to communicate and operate in conjunction with the tower boiler in a lead-lag schedule. The controls contractor must submit a proposed control sequence of operation two weeks prior to construction. Contractor to provide shop drawings of final installation showing control sequence, wiring diagram and point schedule. ?? Install new tower boiler exhaust vent stack and intake duct per manufacturers specifications as shown on the contract drawings to achieve manufacturer recommended clearances, NEC clear space, and egress clearances. Blank off existing combustion air openings. ?? Start up and prove proper operation of the tower boiler to satisfy the revised hot water system loop temperature prior to dismantling base building boiler piping. ?? Provide and install a dedicated boiler pump, hot water bypass piping and a thermic control bypass valve on the existing base building boiler in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and as indicated on the drawings. Blank off existing combustion air openings. ?? Install new base building boiler exhaust vent stack and a new intake duct per manufacturers specifications as shown on the contract drawings to achieve manufacturer recommended clearances, NEC clear space, and egress clearances. Blank off existing combustion air openings. ?? Provide and install new hot water pumps P-1 and P-3 in the tower mechanical room and boiler pumps P-2 in the tower and base building mechanical rooms as shown on the drawings. ?? Provide and install necessary pipe supports, equipment supports, and seismic bracing for new work in the tower and base building mechanical rooms. ?? Provide and install insulation and labels on all heating water pipe insulation where insulation was removed for pipe modifications or replacement.
