- Description
- Currently, coal purchased by TVA for their fossil plants is shipped by rail or truck to the Grand Rivers Terminal (GRT) in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, the Calvert City Terminal (CCT) in Calvert City, Kentucky, and the Cora Terminal in Rockwood, Illinois. The coal is then loaded into barges and shipped to the TVA plants. For combustion and emission considerations, it is usually necessary to collect a coal sample for each barge loaded. These samples are then delivered via courier to a local Laboratory designed by TVA for analysis.
