Description
PREDOMINANT PRODUCTION FUNCTION: Giclee Printing Process. Prints a reproduction of Navy Secretaries Portraits in full color, final finished size is 36-3/4 x 30-3/4 on canvas, wrapped around stretch bars (36-3/4 x 30-3/4?) to fit existing frame. Reduction or enlargement of each image shall be performed by the contractor to provide a consistent face size of 12 x 12: from chin to top of head. Prints in 7-digital colors consisting of Photo Black, Light Black, Cyan, Light Cyan, Magenta, Light Magenta and Yellow. Inks used must be of archival quality, smudge and scratch resistant. Final output must be 720 x 720 DPI and printing must be done on a device with a minimum of seven printing heads. Prints on White Matte Canvas (SEE Stock/Paper above). Contractor to trim all sides to final trim size. Sizes of portraits are attached. After scanning, each digital portrait shall be stapled and edge-stretched by the contractor to 1? x 2? basswood heavy duty expandable joint stretcher bars to obtain a flat print surface. The contractor shall then spray the digital portrait with a protective aqueous varnish or equivalent coating to protect the print surface from environmental moisture and dirt as well as ultra-violet light damage to the colored inks. Upon completion of a set of four (4) digital portraits, the contractor shall remove the corresponding four (4) display portraits presently exhibited within the Pentagon complex. The display portraits shall be removed by the contractor from their frames and returned to AAUSN-PMB. The contractor shall then build up the frames as required to provide extra depth to accommodate the thickness of the new, stretched prints. The contractor shall finish the build up material that is visible from the sides of the frames to match the color and appearance of the frames. The new prints shall then be secured by the contractor in the frames with clips and Coroplast backing added to protect the reverse print. The existing hanging plate, which shall be removed by the contractor to allow the build up, shall be reinstalled by the contractor in its former location. After the hanging of portraits by contractor within the Pentagon of each set of four digital portraits has been completed, the contractor shall coordinate with AAUSN-PMB to return each set of four (4) original portraits to the Navy Art Collection facility and request another set of four (4) original portraits. This process shall continue until the entire set of 63 original portraits has been reproduced, and installed in the Pentagon. The total completion time for receipt, scanning, stretching, framing, and hanging of each set of four (4) portraits shall be not more than one (1) calendar week. Ideally, it is the Navy?s goal to complete all work including the installation of digital portraiture within the Pentagon, on or before August 31, 2007. Quality Level 1. Bid opening April 3, 2007 @11 AM.
