- Enter into a contract to evaluate the Dehavilland Dash 8-100 series aircraft as a platform for the delivery of Smokejumpers and paracargo as firefighting resources in conjunction with the Forest Service's current fire suppression activities. The Interagency Smokejumper Aircraft Screening and Evaluation Board (SASEB) has completed the preliminary performance and functional evaluation on the aircraft, with modifications and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed by Fields Aviations, operated by Neptune Aviation and supported by Bombardier Canada and has determined that the aircraft is suitable to proceed with a field evaluation in actual fire missions.
