Description
The intent of this contract is to secure a set of services to accomplish stand treatments specifically, the reduction of standing vegetation fuel ladders, tree thinning, treatment of standing dead and down material, and removal of biomass and small sawlog material. Work activities are to be accomplished utilizing ground based mechanical equipment operating over dry ground or over the snow. Utilizable material shall be purchased from the Government under the terms of the FS-2400-2 Contract for Sale of Decked Timber. The contractor shall develop a plan to accomplish these objectives, and organize and direct all of the equipment and personnel needed to fully accomplish the work.. It is the intent of this contract to either remove or dispose of as much slash generated from operations as possible so as to limit the amount of post contract government slash burning. Chipping or masticating of slash and other biomass or whole tree removal of small trees and top portions and limbs of larger trees will be required. Slash that is yarded to landings (limbs, tops, small boles) shall be removed or chipped by Contractor; landing slash disposal will be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Government intends to award an Indefinite Quantity/Indefinite Delivery (ID/IQ) contract to one or more contractors and place task orders for work described within the specifications. The contract period will be for one year, beginning in 2007, with four option years which may be exercised. It is estimated that at least 300 acres per year of the various treatments listed under Technical Specifications will be awarded. The project is located within various portions of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU). Each task order issued under the ID/IQ contract shall include project maps of the locations of the work.
