Peters VA Medical Center is seeking qualified Architect /Engineer Services in order to develop plans and specifications for the construction and renovation of Replace Ground Floor AHU, Project No. 526-07-112. .     Work to include construction of new air handler unit and individual room controls. Design to include equipment specifications, heating, ventilation and HVAC, fire protection, architecture, structures, plumbing, electrical, critical path, value engineering, energy conservation and estimating. We are looking for an A/E firm with previous experience in designing research animal housing space. Design shall be in compliance with all applicable building codes, VA design standards, and animal housing codes and regulations.     Copies of VA publications are available upon request from VA Engineering or on the internet at www.gov/facmgt/standard/va_stds.htm Design must meet all applicable and most current federal and state codes/requirements, i.e.: OSHA, EPA, DER, NFPA 101, JCAHO, AHERA, NESHAPS, NFPA, ASTM, PENNDOT, UFAS. The architect-engineer will make site visits as necessary to survey existing conditions as required to determine existing as-built conditions affecting this project. A/E shall field verify all dimensions, wall layouts, etc. A/E shall field verify every aspect that relates to the project. A/E shall coordinate visits with the Project Engineer. A/E must be proficient in the use of AutoCad 2000 and have access to Microsoft Word 5.0 or higher.     The NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code for this project is 541310.     Business size standard is $4.5 million.  The estimated construction cost for this project will be between $250,000 and $500,000. The VA is looking for qualified service disabled veteran-owned small business, veteran-owned small business, or small business. Area of consideration is restricted to 75 mile radius of the Bronx VA. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) Specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, including experience in designing HVAC systems for research animal housing facilities, (2) capacity to accomplish the work in the required time, (3) location in the general geographic area of the project, (4) specific experience and qualifications of personnel proposed for assignment of this project, and (5) past performance on contracts with government research facilities, (6) maintaining project schedules and project budgets, and (7) cost control effectiveness. This is not a RFP. The firm should be balanced with a multidisciplinary organization.     Joint ventures will not be considered.   All responses on SF 330 to this announcement must be received by mail no later than 4:30 pm, local time on April 10, 2007.  DO NOT SEND EMAIL.
