Description
Whether it?s a hostage situation or a drug bust, Special Response Teams (SRTs) are asked to risk their lives every time they are called to work. They are asked to bring criminals to justice while at the same time saving the lives of others who may be in harms way. To aid Special Response Teams, the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has developed a simple-to-use electronic system for cataloguing and managing target files and target folders. By using INL?s Target Files application, SRTs will increase their chance of walking into a hostile situation equipped with the information they need. The Target Files application is in use at the INL, where it gives INL SRTs the ability to plan for protection of INL personnel and materials located in INL facilities. With the quick data access that the application provides, INL SRTs can respond swiftly and intelligently in the event of aggressor attack or hostage situation. This software program also provides an electronic means of documenting target information as required in DOE Order DOE O 473.2. In the INL Target Files application, users first input and access general information about the site location, such as road maps, weather, etc. Next, users identify buildings and/or site areas of interest. Users may then add additional information about each area, such as building floor plans with locations marked to display 360o immersive photography. Each of the locations showing 360o immersive photography can connect to additional hot spots, such as windows or doors to new locations. Users can click on each door and window on the floor plan to display additional rich text documents with additional related information. Documentation for SRT observer/precision shooter and reconnaissance personnel, building and area general information may also be available for each building. Users who access the information click on the item of interest and may then print, update and/or save additional data. Target Files has several features that may be effectively integrated into a special response situation. Some of these features are: ? Easy-to-use interface ? Portable ? Easy download of files ? Easy integration of 360? images, flat graphics, and text documents ? Building walk-throughs ? Easily customized ? Easy to add data ? Ready-to-use for SRT ? Data ready for crisis management While the Target Files application is ready-to-use by SRTs, it could be expanded to collect other information about facilities. Logical extensions of the product include customization for the real estate industry, facility/inventory data management for insurance purposes, campus management, and other applications where the integration of text documents and graphics is preferred. The INL is soliciting interest from qualified companies interested in commercializing this technology. Intellectual property may be licensed exclusively or non-exclusively. The INL invites interested parties to contact us regarding the details of licensing and implementing this technology. Interested parties should submit expressions of interest on or before June 1, 2007. For questions regarding the technology, licensing, and working with the INL, please contact Charity Follett: POINT OF CONTACT: Charity Follett. Telephone: 208-526-9353 E-Mail: Charity.Follett@inl.gov
