- The following questions were submitted. The answers follow each question. Please also note that Amendment #2 was mistakenly issued as Amendment #1. There are currently two amendments that need to be acknowledged. Question 1. C.1.2.2 notes that the Air diffuser system from the main air supply to the aeration tank is to be removed and replaced. There are 5ea diffuser assemblies in the aeration tank and 2ea diffuser assemblies in the sludge digester and storage tank. It appears that 2ea diffuser assemblies in the sludge digester and storage tank are not being removed and replaced. Please confirm. Answer 1: All Diffusers Are to be removed and Replaced Question 2. Please clarify the extent of the removal and replacement. Does it include all piping from the 8 inches CIMJ Air Main or only the air piping from the air valves to the diffusers? I assume the air valve will remain as they are not specifically called out as being removed and replaced? Answer 2: The Piping will only be removed and replaced from the air valves to the diffusers. All the valves in this piping are gate valves they will be replaced with ball valves. Question 3. C.2.6 requires the deep bed sand filter media to be replaced per the manufacturer's instructions; however, the manufacturer is not given. Please supply the original manufacturer of the equipment. Also, we can only be held to the size limits s hown on page 32 of 36 and this information does not seem to be enough to assure proper operation of the system. Answer 3: The original manufacture is LYCO. The Specification listed on Page 32 were taken directly from the operation manual and this is what the contractor will be held to and is what is needed for proper operation.
