Description
To promote safety and health for more than two million U.S. truck drivers, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has decided to initiate a new national survey of truck driver anthropometry. This survey will be conducted in different regions of the continental United States. The research will focus on male and female long-haul drivers of Class 7 and 8 vehicles. The survey findings will be applied to the design of next generation trucks as well as to the updating of relevant industry standards. The recipient of this contract will be expected to successfully complete the following tasks: (1) review an existing NIOSH research plan and make recommendations on improving scientific rigor and practicality; (2) identify data collection sites, recruit and measure 1,000 -1,500 human subjects; and (3) develop a multivariate anthropometric model to guide the design of truck cabs. This requirement is being solicited as a small business set-aside. The CDC expects to award a single cost reimbursement plus fixed fee type contract, and the period of performance is expected to be approximately 36 months from date of award. The complete solicitation document, and reference material, if applicable, will be available for downloading at www.fedbizopps.gov on April 12, 2007 and proposals will be due on May 14, 2007. No verbal or written requests for copies will be accepted. It is the responsibility of perspective offerors to stay abreast of additional postings regarding this solicitation at the FedBizOpps internet site. No government-wide notes apply.
