Description
Statement of Work Professional Services Contract Anesthesiologist Department of Anesthesia and Surgical Services Background Information DASS has faced serious challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified anesthesiologists due to the current national shortage of such specialists. Within the last months DASS has lost several of its anesthesiologists to family emergencies, military services, and planned leave and needs additional contractors to meet the current clinical demands. Based on current staffing, the Department requires a minimum of 17 anesthesiologists to fully staff each operating suite as well as off site locations. General Requirements The Department of Anesthesia and Surgical Services provides support for numerous protocols with surgical components as well as surgical support for patient care. The current operative caseload includes thoracic, neurological, oncological, urological, ophthalmologic, perfusion protocol and transplant. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing the anesthetic care plan in concert with the surgeon and the requirements of the transplant protocols, as well as the operative plan of care and call responsibilities. Provide continuous physiological monitoring and management of the anesthetic state of patients through administration of pharmacological agents and fluids. Emergent care for ventilatory or cardiac difficulties is also provided. The post-anesthesia state is monitored to prevent complications and ensure pain management. The selected vendor will perform all services onsite and work under the direction of Zena Quezado, MD, Chief, DASS, CC, NIH. The vendor must be able to serve as a staff anesthesiologist, and handle the responsibility of renal/pancreas transplant call and handle any operating room or emergent situation if called in to the operating room for anesthesia services. Compensation will be provided in accordance with the Federal Supply Schedule. This service will begin May 7, 2007 through November 30, 2007 or longer if needed. Specific Task Requirements 1. The physician will be licensed with board certification in anesthesiology. 2. The physician will have documented professional liability insurance with coverage of $1,000,000 per claim and $3,000,000 aggregate which is currently in effect. 3. The physician will be in appropriate operating room attire and ready to work if called in to perform anesthesiology services for the transplant service. There will be no over-time. 4. The physician must be competent to use standard anesthesia equipment. 5. The physician must be competent to administer a full range of anesthetics and drugs for full patient care. 6. The physician must report for duty with a current physician license, proof of negative TB test, documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination and references as requested. Acceptance Requirement Zena Quezado, MD, Chief, DASS, CC, NIH will be responsible for accepting and approving all services and work product provided by the vendor. Payment will be made based on completion and acceptance of the tasks as defined above. The vendor will provide a weekly invoice detailing the number of hours of on-call taken and on which days the call was taken. If the vendor is called upon to work during the weekdays the invoice will detail the number of hours and days actual worked. This invoice will have a signature of concurrence by the Chief, DASS or her designee.
