- N21441-7096-0009 1.0 ABSTRACT: This item describes the repair of the CHT piping and modifications to the CHT tank. 2.0 REFERENCES/ENCLOSURES: None 3.0 LOCATION/QUANTITY/DESCRIPTION: 3.1 Sewage Treatment Room, CHT Tank 3-36-0-W. 3.2 Suction piping; 3? 90/10 approximately 20 LF. Include elbows. 3.3 Material for tank modifications as detailed in paragraph 7.3 3.4 Services of a Marine Chemist. 4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED MATERIAL/SERVICES 4.1 GFS - ABS Surveyor 5.0 NOTES 5.1 Ship check to determine the exact piping to be replaced. The USNS Grasp is available for ship check. Contact the Port Engineer. 5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier shall consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all GTR?s. 5.3 The crew will move ashore for the duration of this work. The sewage system will be secured for approximately seven (7) days. 6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional 7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED 7.1 Piping Repair; Crop out and replace the suction piping up to the pump suction valves on the aspirator and sewage pumps. Include all three existing suctions and three tank penetrations. 7.2 Sewage Tank Repair: Clean and gas free safe for hot work. 7.2.1 Provide the services of a Certified Marine Chemist. Gas free ?Safe for Hot Work? all work spaces including surrounding compartments and spaces. a. Update gas free certifications on a daily basis during scope of work utilizing a competent person. b. Post one (1) copy at the gangway, one (1) copy at the space/location of hot work, and provide one (1) copy to the Chief Engineer. 7.2.2 Replace wasted steel in way of the suction boss. Replace boss. 7.3 CHT tank modifications: Install new penetrations on the CHT tank; two 4? flanges welded onto the tank, two 1? threaded coupling bosses installed. The 4? flanges should be installed as follows: One on top of the tank just above and inboard of the tank access. One installed just fwd of the existing flange for the high level sensor on the inboard side of the tank. The bosses should be installed on the fwd bulkhead of the tank, in the passageway. One near the top of the tank, and one lower on the tank just below the level of the tank access plate. These penetrations are for future improvements of monitoring tank level, and also to set up the tank so that if it overflows it overflows to the CHT pump room vice overflowing through the deck drains in the level above. Install blanks on the installed 4? flanges after installation, and install plugs into the 1? coupling bosses after installation. 7.4 Prepare, prime and paint all new and disturbed areas to match existing. 7.5 Provide three (3) porta-poties (toilets), two for use by the contractor and one for use by the ships force exclusive. Insure they are serviced as needed. Supply the toilets through the entire week the sewage system will be secured on the vessel. 8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: None Additional
