Description
The U.S. Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center is conducting a market investigation to identify possible sources for burners with applications in current and future military field feeding systems. Burners with an approximate 60k Btu/hr output with high eff iciency, a low power requirement for operation, and a modular design/construction are of interest for application in smaller field feeding systems/appliances. Additionally, burners with a larger output range of 100-300k Btu/hr with high efficiency and a mo dulating firing rate with the capacity to automatically adjust its output to track the variable heating loads demanded by military kitchens are desired for operation within larger military field kitchens. Overall, burners that operate using JP-8 fuel, con sume little power, are designed for rugged and mobile use, and enhance the opportunity to maximize system efficiency, increase reliability, minimize emissions and enable cogeneration that will help reduce the need for diesel generator support are of intere st.The burners(s) supplied may be subjected to a Government conducted test and evaluation program. The burner(s) may be subjected to hot and cold storage and operation testing, corrosion testing, combustion by-product emissions testing, exposure to moistu re, transportability testing, and reliability, maintainability, and availability (RAM) testing. In order to allow for the described testing effort, the burner(s) selected must be in production or at the point in system development where small quantities h ave been produced. The market survey being conducted is for informational purposes only; this is not a Request for Proposal or Request for Quotations. No solicitation document exists. Funding is presently not available and not guaranteed. Cost associated w ith the preparation and submission of information and/or any follow-up information requests are the responsibility of the vendor and these costs will not be reimbursed by the Government. All interested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respond t o this request for information. Responses or questions may be sent via email to doug.brown@natick.army.mil by 04 May 2007.
