- This is a sources sought notice, which constitutes the only solicitation; bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is SB1341-07-RQ-0160 and is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). If your company can provide the product/services listed on the solicitation and comply with all of the solicitation instructions, please respond to this sources sought notice. The contract must either be in the seller's name or the seller must be able to document its ability to act as an agent of a partner's contract. Sellers may offer Open Market items only in accordance with the approved Terms and Conditions of their respective contract AND approval from the soliciting contracting officer. This requirement is a [ Small Business ] set-aside and only qualified sellers may submit bids. The solicitation pricing on www.FedBid.com will start on the date this solicitation is posted and will end on 2007-04-30 14:00:00.0 Eastern Time or as otherwise displayed at www.FedBid.com. FOB Destination shall be Gaithersburg, MD 20899 The National Institute of Standards and Technology requires the following items, Brand Name or Equal, to the following: LI 001, Tyan Transport VX50 model B4985V50V8H-8P configured with eight (8) AMD Opteron 8220 dual core 2.8GHz processors with 2 MB cache and 64 GB (total) of single rank PC2-5300 DDR2 ECC 2 GB DIMMS such as Kingston KVR667D2S4P5K2/4G, and four (4) 320 GB SATA hard drives such as the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS. System must be fully functional without any memory errors or warnings at rated speeds with current 64-bit Fedora Core Linux. Vendor has a maximum of 30 days after delivery to correct any deficiencies., 1, EA; LI 002, Brand name justification.This is a brand name or equal requirement. Brand name or equal description is intended to be descriptive, but not restrictive, and is to indicate the quality and characteristic of products that will be considered satisfactory to meet the agency?s requirement. The Tyan Transport VX50 system and components to be purchased must be compatible with existing Tyan hardware and software in the NIST lab. It is essential that NIST acquire the Tyan Transport VX50 as it is the only known workstation that meets our requirements to run Linux on the x86_64 architecture with 16 processor cores and up to 128 GB of memory., 1, EA; LI 003, Fee (if applicable), 1, EA; For this solicitation, National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to conduct an online competitive reverse auction to be facilitated by the third-party reverse auction provider, FedBid, Inc. FedBid has developed an online, anonymous, browser based application to conduct the reverse auction. A Seller may submit a series of pricing bids, which descend in price during the specified period of time for the aforementioned reverse auction. National Institute of Standards and Technology is taking this action in an effort to improve both seller access and awareness of requests and the agency's ability to gather multiple, completed, real-time bids. All responsible Sellers that respond to this solicitation MUST submit the pricing portion of their bid using the online exchange located at www.FedBid.com. There is no cost to register, review procurement data or make a bid on www.FedBid.com.
