Description
The Transportation Security Administration Office of Contracts and Procurement is requesting information regarding the manufacture of concealable body armor. Information requested includes vendor capabilities and limitations with regard to the production of concealable body armor, to include material capabilities, place of manufacture, source of materials, proven production capacity and surge rate. Additionally, information regarding vendor??s products currently in production is also requested. Technical requirements are as follows: ?X Vest must be in compliance with and certified to NIJ 2006 Standards when released. ?X Material should have an aerial density not to exceed .80 pounds per square foot. ?X Panel thickness shall be less than .20??. ?X Vest will be in compliance with commiserating protection level to stop .357 Sig 125 grain GDHP. ?X Vest will not be visible or detectible when worn under polo shirt or dress shirt. ?X Carrier shall be of form fitting design to prevent bulging or sag. ?X Ballistics will be protected from moisture vapor or not affected by exposure. Any submission not meeting all technical requirements will be considered non-responsive. Technical submissions are required within 90 days from close of RFI. Any feedback on the contents of the proposed equipment is encouraged. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only, does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. The Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future development efforts. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government and is for informational purposes only. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted.
