- The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity proposes to award to Affymetrix, 3380 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051 on a sole source basis, for the purchase of Gene Chip? solely by Affymetrix. The GeneChip? is the only Chip that is c ompatible with Affymetrix GeneChip? scanner. Competing this requirement and awarding to any other manufacturer would result in substantial delays and disruption of several key projects already in progress and would also increase the overall cost to the go vernment. This procurement shall be under other than full and open competition procedures in accordance with FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quote. Any response to this notice must be submitted in writing to the govern ment and show clear and convincing evidence that another system is capable of meeting the Governments requirements and that competition of the requirement would be advantageous to the government. If no written responses are received at least fifteen (15) days after the publication of this response, the purchase will be awarded without further notice.
