- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to procure a Chameleon System: Ultra (II): 80 MHz laser from Coherent Laser Group, 5100 Patrick Henry Drive, Santa Clara, CA 95054. The item to be procured is the Chameleon ULTRA II hands-free ultrafast Ti: Sapphire laser. The laser must have a minimum system warranty of 12 months or 5000 operating hours from installation, first occurring, covers parts and labor. Coherent Laser Group is the only party known to NIDDK that can meet the requirements below. The acquisition is to acquire the upgraded Chameleon ULTRA II hands-free ultrafast Ti: Sapphire laser using our trade-in allowance (for our existing titanium: sapphire laser) from Coherent. The trade-in allowance requires that the existing laser be returned to Coherent who is the manufacturer of the laser. This is not a solicitation for competitive proposals. However, if any other interested party believes that it can meet the requirements it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient details to allow NIDDK to determine if the party can meet all of the foregoing requirements. Offers must also be accompanied by descriptive literature, warranties and/or other information that demonstrates that the offer meets all of the foregoing requirements. Capability statements and related materials must be received in this office by p.m. EST on May 3rd, 2007. The determination to compete or not compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
