Description
This is a sources sought notice and NOT a Request for Proposal. The purpose of this announcement is to determine the potential of qualified Offerors that can provide a Yellowish Chalk Rock as a match to historic Niobrara Chalk Rock for the preservation and repair of the historic Chapel at Ft. Randall, located near Pickstown, South Dakota. The National Park Service's, Historic Preservation Training Center's requirement of the Offeror is to provide the following material requirements: All chalk rock shall be of architectural grade, free of cracks, seams, starts, or other traits that may impair its structural integrity or function; Flat sawn, on all six sides, with the saw marks removed on the face side, to approximate dimensions identified below. Dimensional tolerances shall be +/- 1/8" on heights and +/-1/2" on widths. All material graining shall be in the horizontal direction. The Government will require large amounts of the material with quantities ranging from a minimum of 200 square feet to in excess of 1000 square feet. Stone Dimensions required are: HEIGHT: 8" all material, LENGTH: 8" to 36", with approximately 70% being between 15" to 24", THICKNESS: 4". Photographs of representative historic samples of Niobrara Chalk Rock showing the most extreme cases of color variation and surfaces are available at: http://www.nps.gov/training/hptc/hptc.htm under Preservation Services, Solicitations. At the written request of the Offeror, the Government will provide a sample of the chalk rock to be matched. A written request for a sample shall be sent in writing via Email to: sheila_rushlow@nps.gov, no later than May 8, 2007. Requests must include: Company name, Point of Contact, Federal Express Mailing Address, and telephone number. Requests after this cut-off date will not be considered. Responses to this announcement shall be sent in writing, no later than 12:00 p.m. on May 21, 2007 to: Sheila Rushlow, Contracting Officer, Historic Preservation Training Center, 4801A Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21701 Response shall include: (1) At least two sets of samples of the various kinds of chalk rock. At a minimum, sample sizes shall be 6"long x 8"high x 4"wide, and represent the finish, texture and anticipated range of colors to be supplied. Selection for comparable chalk rock shall be based on color variations and stone characteristics, uniform grain size and general material composition. (2) Provide any technical data, laboratory material data and test result report(s) available (3) Demonstrate the ability to provide the material identified with the listed dimensional requirements in a timely manner; anticipated start date September 10, 2007 (4) Identify either in-house or subcontractor capability to provide all handling, packing on pallets, and freight requirements for shipping to: Ft. Randall Chapel site, Ft. Randall Dam, Pickstown, South Dakota.
