The Air Force is qualifying and additional source for the Full Signal Translator and building production unit is in support of the Minuteman III Weapon System (LGM30). The government requirement is for three (3) qualification units and three options of 12 EA FST production units (total of 36 production units). An additional vendor part number will be assigned once a new vendor is qualified. The FST was developed by John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), Laurel, Maryland. The FST was developed as a small lightweight, low-analog, low cost translator that is used in very confined spaces, including reentry vehicles and ballistic missile interceptors, to provide a means to utilize all of the GSP signal available for more precise post flight trajectory reconstruction. The FST technical data package is maintained under configuration control as level 2 development documentation by the 526th ICBMSW, Hill Air Force Base, UT. The government will provide limited engineering technical support through JHU/APL during the qualification phase. Engineering support, if needed by the contractor, will consist of training, assembly, building, and testing technical assistance to ensure the contractor is meeting the government's requirements.
