- Description
- GovWorks is issuing a Request for Proposal on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Immunization Safety Office, who has a requirement for investigator-initiated, peer-reviewed, extramural research to design, plan and execute research studies regarding the potential association of vaccine adverse events and human genetic variations. The non-epidemiology research will be used to better understand risk factors for serious adverse reactions, develop screening tools that identify children at high risk for developing serious adverse reactions from vaccinations, and develop effective treatments and interventions for children suffering severe adverse reactions. The focus of this research will be to further the basic understanding of how human genetic variation may impact the immunologic response to vaccines and how this individual genetic variation may affect both the quality of the immune response as well as potential risks for adverse events that may occur following immunization. The contract will also cover how specific polymorphisms or other indicators of human genetic variation are associated with intermediate endpoints known to be associated with vaccine adverse endpoints, or how specific polymorphisms or other indicators of human genetic variation are associated with biologically plausible surrogates of vaccine adverse events. ***The period of performance will be 12 months for the date of award, plus 4 additional option years which may be unilaterally exercised by the Government. ***This requirement is being procured using full & open competition. The resultant award is expected to be a time and materials contract. ***The NAICS code for this requirement is 541710 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. ***The competitive Request for Proposal (RFP), Statement of Work, RFP amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.govworks.gov/vendor/csolicit.asp under RFP number 1406-04-07-RP-66764. ***The RFP is anticipated for release to the vendor community on or about May 7, 2007, and will be available via the Internet at the above web site. ***Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the web site.
