- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business or HUBZone small businesses capable of providing genotyping for the Phoenix Epidemiology and Clinical Research Branch, NIDDK. These examinations include testing for diabetes and its complications. DNA has been collected from peripheral blood samples in most participants in the last 20 years. Previous analyses of family data, including a genome-wide linkage study, indicate a strong familial aggregation of diabetes in this community and the presumptive chromosomal locations of one or more diabetes-?susceptibility genes. Current technology now allows for much denser mapping of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) covering the entire genome than has been possible previously. Scope of work is to Genotype DNA samples, to be provided by NIH from approximately 975 participants in the Gila River Indian Community study. Genotyping should include approximately one million SNPs covering the entire human genome. Data will be provided to NlH in a computer-readable format. The NIH will provide samples of DNA extracted from peripheral blood lymphocytes or cultured cells from study participants. All respondents are requested to identify their firm?s size and type of business. Interested firms responding to this market survey must provide (a) capability statement demonstrating their experience, skills and capability to fulfill the Government?s requirements for the above. The capability statement shall be in sufficient enough detail, but not to exceed 15 pages, so that the Government can determine the experience and capability of your firm to provide the requirements above. Your capability statement, not to exceed 15 pages, should include references. A copy of the capability statement must be received at the address identified in this synopsis by no later than 15 days prior to close of business (5:00 P.M. local time at designated location) on May 7, 2007. Responses by fax or e-mail WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited.
