Description
Solicitation No. W9128F 07 B 0012 On or about 18 May 2007, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for construction of Flood Protection Project, Big Sioux River and Skunk Creek, Phase 2B, Sioux Falls, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 19 June 2007. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Steve Hasner at 701-594-5016. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Scope of Work: Approximately one-half mile of existing levee will be raised two to five feet in order to provide 100-year flood protection along the Big Sioux River, within the City of Sioux Falls. The project consists of raising the existing levee system including removal, installation or modification of drainage structures (culverts). Construction features include but are not limited to: Clearing and grubbing; stripping; excavation; hauling, plac ing and compacting fill; and installation/ modification/removal of drainage structures. Approximately 50,000 cubic yards of fill material will be required to raise the existing levee system. Construction of a wetland mitigation area will require approxim ately 22,000 cubic yards of excavation. The wetland mitigation area is an option to the base bid. The project extends along the east bank of the Big Sioux River from 49th Street north to 41st Street. The base bid includes only the east bank of the Big Sioux River within limits specified above. Options include a wetland mitigation area on the east ban k of the Big Sioux River immediately south of 49th Street and a tree mitigation area along the north side of the Prairie View Bypass Channel. Install new surface drain channel on the left hand side of the spillway chute from approximately station 15+40 to the drop structure south of Russell Street. The estimated construction cost for this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000. _______________________________________________________________________________ Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
