- ASSESSMENT OF AFIP TISSUE REPOSITORY As a result of the May 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) recommendations, sections of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) will be realigned to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). The AFIP Tissue Repository, which consists of extensive databases, registries, tissue blocks, slides, gross samples, radiographs and case files, will be transferred. USUHS intends to award a contract to assess the condition of the samples and the utility of the cataloging system in order to develop appropriate plans for storage, maintenance and access. USUHS recognizes that the repository has substantial value to the medical research community and intends to take appropriate steps to preserve this unique research tool. Interested firms with the appropriate expertise and experience are invited to identify themselves to the contracting officer to be part of developing the acquisition strategy, refining the draft statement of objectives (SOO) and subsequent solicitation. Responders will be invited to a pre-solicitation meeting and tour of the facilities. A draft RFP will be posted by 02 April 2007. Pre-solicitation meeting will be held for responders in mid-April 2007. NAICS Code 621511, size standard $12.5M. Please identify your firm's size and socio-economic size standard in your reply.
