- Description
- The Corps of Engineers has a need for a contract for Fabrication and Delivery of maintenance bulkhead units for the future Charleroi Locks located in western Pennsylvania. The bulkhead units are needed on the upstream and downstream end of the future lock to perform maintenance dewaterings. A total of seven (7) bulkhead units are required; each bulkhead is identical. The bulkheads shall be constructed using various sizes of standard W, T, C steel shapes and steel plate. The majority of the steel item s shall conform to ASTM A-572 grade 50 requirements. Connections will be accomplished by a combination of welding and bolting. All welded joints are to be tested by applicable non-destructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and visual). Each bulkh ead has a span of 85 Feet 8 Inches , a height of 6 Feet 9 Inches, and an 11 Foot 0 Inch truss depth. The weight of each bulkhead is approximately 32 tons. Components of the bulkheads include truss framing, skin plate, diaphragms, cover plates, bumper assem blies, pick up and support details, water seals and related items. The contractor will be responsible to develop and submit detailed shop drawings for review and approval. The contractor is to deliver and offload the bulkheads at Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River located at 100 Montgomery Dam Road, Monaca, PA 15061. The period of performance will be between 350 and 550 calendar days. This procurement is designated as a small business set aside.
