Description
NAICS Code: 541710 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has a requirement to obtain access to a guinea pig model of infection to propagate large quantities of the human infectious Peruvian E. bieneusi isolate for use towards developing a complete detection method to monitor for this pathogen in drinking water systems. This action is being pursued on a sole source basis because, Dr. Vitaliano Cama of Departamento de Salud Animal y Salud Publica, Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru recently identified a Peruvian E. bieneusi isolate that is infectious to guinea pigs as well as humans. To date, this specific Peruvian E. bieneusi isolate found in guinea pigs has not been found anywhere else in the world, and is the only isolate identified that infects humans and guinea pigs. To the best of our knowledge, Dr. Cama and his colleagues at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos are the only group that has access to this isolate. Dr. Cama and colleagues have developed a guinea pig infection model system that can provide large quantities of well characterized homogenous E. bieneusi spore that is infectious to humans. NAICS Code 541710 applies with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The intent of this notice is to determine if any other sources(s) exist, and therefore, no solicitation (RFQ) is available. Consequently, any response failing to provide the aforementioned data and instead chooses to merely submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFQ will be ignored. Interested parties who can meet the above requirements may submit written qualification statements, fully explaining their capability no later than 15 days after the date of this publication. Submit response to the U.S. EPA, Attn: John Southerland Jr (MC-E105-02), RTP Procurement Operations Division, Research Triangle Park, NC 27711.
