Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Ceramics Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with OptoSigma Corporation of Santa Ana, California, to purchase the following components to be used to develop a control pad. The control pad components are manufactured by Sigma Koki (Japan), which owns OptoSigma. OptoSigma is based in the U.S. and is the only U.S. distributor for the components. Item: Linear Stepper Stage LMG20 T85MM (XY), Model: SGSP20-85(XY), Mfg. Part #: 511-2052 Item: ZF Motor Stage, Model: SGSP60-10ZF, Mfg. Part #: 512-0610 Item: Stepper Controller Motor, Model: SHOT- 204MS, Mfg. Part #: 555-1204-MS Item: Control Pad for SHOT-202 and 204MS, Model: CJ-200, Mfg. Part #: 555-4020 Item: DMINIS type cable, Model: DMINI-CA-2, Mfg. Part #: 561-2042 Sole source determination is based on the following: The control pad will be used to assist in the testing in a thermal conductivity project. The control pad is unique based on its capacity to execute functions without the use of a personal computer. This will allow for a greater degree of accuracy in the testing. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by May 25, 2007 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
