- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial requirements prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the ONLY solicitation; a written solicitation will NOT be issued. This simplified acquisition procurement is also being accomplished in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Southern AZ VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), Diagnostics Services Line, Microbiology Section, 3601 S. 6th Avenue Tucson, Arizona intends to negotiate a sole-source procurement for a GeneXpert Sixteen Module configuration with desktop computer and DX Software (GXHT1600N1-2), XPERT MRSA (GXMRSA-100N-10), Cepheid Collection Device Box of 50 (900-0370) with Cepheid at 904 Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1189. The GeneXpert is the only system that provides an automated solution for continuous surveillance of patients for colonization of antibiotic resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) bacteria that may cause serious hospital infections. This system will provide a needed solution for rapidly identifying and isolating these patients to prevent spread of infections to other patients. This system is also being south as the best solution for meeting the expectations of the national VA MRSA initiative. Reagent pricing is also being sought through Sept 2008. Individual orders will be place as needed. The applicable NAICS for this requirement is 334516 Size Standard 500 employees. The Government will award a Firm-fixed price contract resulting from this solicitation. The Contractor shall provide a complete copy of the Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items (FAR 52.212-3 Nov 2006) with its offer or complete the annual representations and certifications electronically at http://orca.bpn.gov. Many of the provisions and clauses cited in this solicitation are incorporated by reference, FAR 52.252-2 (FEB 1998), to the appropriate section of the FAR and VAAR. A review of these provision and clauses will be necessary for you to understand all aspects of the solicitation.
