Description
The CARVII confocal system is a new technology that provides the imaging and resolution of true laser confocal systems but at half the price. The CARVII confocal used in conjunction with the Zeiss AxioObserver will provide an excellent general purpose light microscope and spinning disk confocal imaging system. It will provide imaging on fixed tissue as well as fresh tissue. It uses a full spectrum white light source capable of exciting a wide range of fluorophores from 350nm to 700nm (other systems require purchase of additional lasers to accomplish this). This illumination is more than sufficient for imaging in wide field as well as in the confocal mode. CARVII offers minimized phototoxicity to cells and minimized photobleaching of fluorophores. Observation of live cells for hours is possible. This equipment will be used on command approved research protocols S-05-011, S06-053 and S-06-1
