- VENDOR: <U>Request for a Brand Name Item only.</U> The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement for a new Tiffen Steadicam Camera Support System . The Tiffen Steadicam system required is the Ultra 2 System Complete, Model Number U2MZHORH8CPSG7. The statutory authority for this acquisition Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1)-Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This acquisition will be conducted pursuant to FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items. The justification required at FAR 6.302-1(c) and FAR 13.106-3(b)(3)(i) is provided as an attachment to this synopsis. The SSA requirements are as follows: 1. Must be High Definition capable; 2. Must support SDI signals (serial digital interface); 3. Must support component signals; 4. Must work with cameras of any size and weight in common usage; 5. Most work with the power and electrical requirements of any cameras SSA owns or is in common usage; 6. Must be user maintainable; 7. Must be user adjustable; 8. Must be able to be used by camera people of all sizes; 9. Software upgrades must be able to be done by user; 10. Components must have maximum extendibility and adjustability for to give us the most possibilities in shooting; 11. Hardware upgrades must be quick, done by user, and not take the system out of use; 12. Must have monitoring systems that can be easily viewable in all field conditions; 13. Must have a tilt head adjustment that requires no tools; 14. Display must have a frame-line generator; 15. Display must have an on-screen artificial horizon; 16. Display must show battery status on-screen; 17. Lifting range must be from 12 to 70 lbs; 18. Must include a hard case for the sled; 19. Must include a hard case for the arm and vest; 20. Must include a hard case for the batteries, charger and accessories; 21. Must include motorized and programmable top stage; 22. Batteries must be air transportable. Other organizations offering a similar product are invited to submit information regarding the specifications and technical literature of the product. This is not a request for quotation and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. If SSA does not identify other acceptable sources capable of providing the brand name specific camera support system, SSA shall proceed with a sole source award under FAR Part 12 and 13 to the manufacturer, Tiffen Company, 90 Oser Avenue, Hauppauge, NY 11788 or one of their authorized resellers or distributers. Responses should be submitted to the SSA on or before 5:00 P.M. EST 05/18/07. Electronic responses are preferred and can be sent to the following Contract Specialist: Kevin.Muniz@SSA.gov in the Office of Acquisition and Grants. Please include Camera Support System in the subject line. SSA will not accept supplemental hardcopy materials such as brochures, flyers, etc.
