Description
The U.S Department of Homeland Security, National Acquisition Center, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to negotiate a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed Price, Commercial type contract with Thermo Electron, Billerica, MA, in accordance with FAR Part 6.302. Multiple awards are not being sought. The item to be procured isthe XLt 793GKMPWZ Thin/Bulk Sample Analyzer. If your company has a system that can provide quick elemental analysis screening without extensive setup time, is a portable X-Ray Florescence (XRF) instrument that can be used on-site to identify various types of steel, to supplement current radiation equipment by providing elemental composition independent of the radiation signal, and possibly analyze specific elements in tiles for Country of Origin please contact the specialist below. Additional requirements include: a battery of Li-Ion or equivalent and must be able to conduct at least 8 hours of inspection work without changing, a battery charger 110v AC, a waterproof carrying case, cable for a RS-232 downloading port, wireless communications capability, software required provide secure communications to a PC, free software upgrades for the life of the analyzer, and the instrument shall accept data entry form an integrated bar code scanner. Any firm that believes it can meet the requirements of this Notice must provide written notification to the Contracting Officer within ten calendar days from the date of publication. A firm submitting information should provide supporting evidence in sufficient detail to demonstrate the capability of the firm/product to provide a system as defined/described in this Notice. Information must be sent to the Contracting Officer at: U.S Department of Homeland Security, National Acquisition Center, CBP, 6650 Telecom Drive, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278, Attention: Rick Travis, Contract Specialist (e-mail address is richard.travis@dhs.gov) No telephone submission of information will be accepted. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the Government will proceed with the Sole Source contract.
