Description
STATEMENT OF WORK STEEL BUILDINGS ELEPHANT BUTTE DAM, NM BACKGROUND Two free standing, shed type (single slope) steel buildings to be erected by Reclamation employee's on site. Building's to be used primarily for equipment storage. LOCATION Building no.1 shall be delivered to the Elephant Butte Field Division office, located 4 miles north east of Truth or Consequences N.M. on highway 51. Building no.2 shall be delivered to the Elephant Butte Field Division's Caballo dam warehouse, located 1 mile east of highway 25 off the Percha Arrey off ramp (figure1). SCOPE The contractor shall be responsible for the manufacturing and delivery of the completed building packages. They shall be delivered to Elephant Butte Field Division's main office and the Caballo dam warehouse yard. REQUIRMENTS The buildings shall be the product of a firm regularly engaged in the design and manufacture of prefabricated metal buildings. The buildings shall be complete with flashing, gutters and all trim and appurtenances required for a neat, attractive, and weather tight building. The building frame shall rest on and be anchored to the concrete foundation footings. Anchor bolt and footing specifications shall be designed and provided by the contractor in accordance with pertinent building codes and manufactures recommendations. 1. Dimensions.-Both buildings shall have a clear span, single slope roof with the slope included with the buildings dimensions. These dimensions may be varied slightly to meet the manufacture's standards if approved by the contracting officer and provided the available floor space is not reduced. a. Building No. 1 - 150' long, 30' wide with 25' spans, a 16' height at the entrance with a desired slope of 1:30. The sides will be enclosed and the rear will have a partial cover hanging 4' from the ceiling. b. Building No. 2 - 100' long, 30' wide with 25'spans, a 16' height at the entrance with a desired slope of 1:30. The sides will be open, the rear will be adjoining to an existing building, a gutter shall be designed and provided by the contractor to drain between the buildings, all appropriate hardware, downspouts, flashing etc. will be included. 2. Structural design. - All members shall be designed so as not to exceed the Allowable unit stresses shown in the latest edition of the ''Steel Construction Manual'' of the American Institute of Steel Construction or in the latest edition of the ''Light Gage Cold-Formed Steel Designed Manual'' of the American Iron and Steel Institute. All members shall be designed for a minimum live load of 20 pounds per square foot and a minimum wind load of 20 pounds per square foot in addition to the dead load. a. Wall and roof panels - Roof panels shall be of maximum possible length to minimize end laps. Wall and roof panels shall be a minimum 26 gage steel. Roof panels at eave, ridge and rake shall be flashed and sealed to provide watertight joints. All panels shall be factory prefinished on all exposed surfaces, these surfaces will be covered by warranty. b. Frame type -Factory warranty, H - Beam c. Materials and Hardware - All materials, parts and hardware shall be accurately listed in a manufacture's parts list. The manufacture shall provide only approved fasteners, so that sheets will become an integral part of each building. Bolts, self tapping screws, or Widman - type fasteners are approved fasteners d. Drawings -All drawings and instructions are to be provided by the contractor. Shop and erection drawings will include the manufactures design, location and size of foundation footings, coating information, recommended column ties and the metal building superstructure details.
