Title of Project: Tuck pointing historic structures, Fort Scott National Historic Site, Fort Scott, Kansas. Description of Project: Remove mortar and tuck point eleven historic structures. During past reconstruction by the city, a Portland type mortar was used. This harder mortar is allowing water to infiltrate behind and wash original soft mortar material away. This project will remove the Portland mortar and replace it with a softer limestone based mortar that will expand and contract. Some of these eleven Historic Structures have all Portland type mortar. In these areas the mortar will be raked out to a depth specified by the Contracting Officer (CO) and re-pointed with the softer Type N mortar. The solicitation will be issued on or about May 30, 2007 with bids due on or about June 29, 2007 (see solicitation for time and date bids are due). Time for Completion: 90 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. Type of Procurement: A firm-fixed price contract will be awarded to the small business submitting the lowest bid. NAICS code for this project is 238140 with a size standard of $13 Million. The estimated price range is: $100,000 - $250,000. Pre-bid conference will be held (see solicitation package Section L for time and date of meeting.) All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered. See Numbered Note 1.
