- Description
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing seeks information through ?sources sought / market survey? to determine the availability of an intaglio indirect / direct inking system proof press equipment. The equipment will be utilized in the Product Development testing facility area as a pre-production print model directly related to the equipment printing method and print quality of the Giori Super-Orlaf Intaglio (indirect and direct inking system) printing presses currently used by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington D.C.. The proposed equipment must be commercially available. Please provide 2 copies of literature and budget pricing plus one electronic copy to the attention of Donald Baron. The usage of the desired equipment is two fold: 1) The primary usage is to duplicate in proof size production the: a. printing process of the related production equipment b. print quality of the related production equipment 2) The secondary usage is to support small quantity production of miscellaneous intaglio printings. The following features and specifications of the intaglio test press are draft in nature to provide a guideline of the equipment capabilities: Paper specification Specific paper weight: 70 to 100 g/m2 Maximum paper size: 360 mm (14.17-in.) circumferential x 460 mm (18.11-in.) wide Minimum paper size: 230 mm ( 9.05-in.) circumferential x 230 mm ( 9.05-in.) wide Maximum print area: 315 mm (12.40-in.) circumferential x 420 mm (16.53-in.) wide Production capacity Print speed: 4,000 sheets per hour Sheet feeder Automatic feeder ? Automatic sheet feeding ? Maximum pile load weight: 250 kg (550 lbs.) ? Maximum pile height: 1200 mm (47.24-in.) ? Paper advance by pneumatic/vacuum assembly ? Safety devices to prevent equipment damage ? Side-lay registration and adjustment of both sides ? Front-lay registration and adjustment of +/- 0.5mm (.020-inches) Inking units Three (3) color indirect inking system (with collector inking cylinder) units for intaglio printing Indirect ?
