Classification Code: F= Natural Resource Management Product Code: F099 = Other Natural Resource Management / Conservation NAICS Code: 541620 = Environmental Consulting (FAC: 05-2055 REV (02) ) The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Eagle Lake Field Office (ELFO) requires archaeological inventory of the North Horse Stewardship Project, located northeast of Horse Lake, California (Figure 1). The Eagle Lake Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is preparing to thin Units 1 and 6 (1743 acres) using a variety of mechanical means (rubber tire harvesters, chainsaws, skidders, whole tree chippers) to reduce wildland fuels resulting in the reduction of catastrophic wildfire. Most of the material will be chipped and removed to be utilized as biomass for electricity production in local Co-Generation Plants. The target species for removal will be up to 90% of the western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis) (Figure 1). The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supplies, supervision, tools, materials, equipment, permits, and transportation necessary to provide the above service at the locations noted per the Solicitation. The Contractor is responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with the Class III Inventory requirements, to assure that all requirements and regulations pertaining to this job are adhered to. In order to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA), as amended, the Bureau of Land Management is initiating archaeological investigations that will include inventory of 1743 acres of land for the purposes of fuels reduction. The North Horse Stewardship Project lies 25 miles northeast of Susanville, Ca. The project area can be accessed by Horse Lake Rd traveling east from Hwy139 from Willow Creek Valley or traveling west from Hwy 395 from Ravendale, Ca. The majority of the project area lies north of Horse Lake Rd. The project area is northeast of Horse Lake. The RFQ will be posted on or before May June 1, 2007. Closing date for this RFQ will be no later than June 30, 2007, 11:59 EST.
