Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases (CCID), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Influenza Division (ID) contemplates award of a five year contract (including options) to assure a suitable, stable, and commetted source for White Fertile Chicken Eggs for the Influenza Division?s regular annual usage. The Influenza Division incubates white sertile chicken eggs to produce embryonated 10-11 day old chicken eggs which are used singularly or in conjunction with various tissue culture systems for the isolation of influenza viruses. The eggs are also used for the titration of viruses to test antibody responsses to various influenza proteins in experimental vaccind studies. Most importantly it is incumbant upon the Influenza Division, a World Health Organization Collaborating Center (WHO CC) for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Control of Influenza to semi-annually present to the WHO, FDA, and vaccine manufacturers the seed viruses that are to be used in the porduction of influenza vaccine for the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Total anticipated usage of white fertile eggs by the Influenza division for all activities, including vaccine seed viruses, reagent kits, and research, is between 15,600 and 31,200 dozen eggs per year (300-600 dozen per week.) To be considered for award of this contract, an offeror?s flock(s) must meet the requirements of the National Poutry Improvement Plan of 1963 and after testing by an official of the appropriate State Agency, qualify for the rating ?U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean.? White fertile eggs from a Single flock is preferred and the flock(s) shall be maintained in a controlled environment with appropriate barriers such as HEPA air filtrations systems to create pathogen free breeding pens that are at a reduced risk of the impact of avian influenza or disease outbreaks with other pathogens. Eggs shall weigh a minimum of 23-25 ounces per dozen or the equivalent in metric measure (grams per dozen). Eggs shall be free of baterial, fungal, or mycoplasmal contamination. Interested offerors are requested to submit capability statements to Bonnie Kennedy, CDC Procurement and Grants Office (PGO), via email to bskennedy@cdc.gov, by no later than 14 June 2007. Please be sure to document your technical qualifications to perform provide these white fertile chicken eggs and provide information required to assess small business size status (i.e. aver gross annual receipts for preceeding three fiscal years and number of employees.)
